How long do you spend sitting?
How long do you spend sitting at your desk during the day? Now add on the time you spend relaxing in front of the TV on the sofa in the evenings and perhaps the commute in the car or train on the way to and from work…More than 5 hours?
You’re probably sitting for much longer than you realise and have been doing so for many years.
We regularly see patients in our practice suffering with lower back pain and one of the main causes is prolonged sitting. Our bodies weren’t designed to sit for multiple hours a day and be immobile. We also know it is not easy to avoid being immobile if you work in an office.
Wouldn’t you love to put an end to those aches and pains and feel safe in the knowledge that you can be at your desk at work and still be healthy? Carefully crafted from our own research, the exercises we give to our practice members and our experience in practice, “Sit Well” is your solution to guilt-free, healthy sitting.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Your first visit to the practice will consist of an initial chiropractic consultation and, if appropriate, a full examination. One of our trained clinic assistants will greet you at the reception desk and ask that you complete your health history details. One of our Technical Assistants will come to greet you and escort you to the consultation room where they will take some scans to measure the function of your nervous system.
Your Chiropractor will then meet you and go through your health history and carry out your spinal health exam.
Following your consultation we will provide a full and thorough spinal health examination. For this, we will ask you to wear a gown that allows us to conduct the examination professionally. Your examination will typically last up to 45 minutes and provides us with the information about your spinal health in order to complete a report for you. Sometimes there is a requirement to take a set of spinal x-rays. These are only taken when necessary, and provide us with more detailed information regarding the health of your spine. Our x-ray machine is very modern and is on site at the practice.
After your examination, the chiropractor will escort you back to reception to schedule your second visit with our clinic assistants. You are welcome to bring a chaperone with you to your examination.
Your second visit will be a group session which we call the Pre-Care consultation.
During this session, we will explain what to expect what the tests mean so that you can better understand your results and your options for care. This will then help to guide you towards what works best for your situation and health goals.
From our experience, we find that the more you understand about how to get the most out of your care, the faster you will see results which will save you both time and money.
After we study your health history and correlate our examination findings, we’ll provide you with a diagnosis and discuss a treatment plan. We call this the Report of Findings.
This is usually attended to on your third visit, which will take place as soon as possible after you have attended the Pre-Care consultation. This three-visit approach accomplishes several things:
In certain situations, and in the professional judgment of Dr. McCrossin, we sometimes make exceptions. It just depends on your unique situation.
On each adjustment visit please come to the reception and sign in. Take a seat and as soon as the Chiropractor is ready for you we will ask you to enter the adjusting area.
The adjustment itself takes place in the communal consulting area. This innovative approach is preferred by many regular clients as it is much less formal than traditional methods of treatment – many even take time after their adjustments to rest, relax and even chat to fellow patients in this calming space. Of course, if you prefer to be treated in private then we have private treatment rooms.
We always recommend that you help yourself to plenty of water and take a short walk after each adjustment.
Because N8 Health takes a holistic approach to health and wellbeing, we also offer sports massage, nutritional advice and Pilates.

Paul undertook some tests and diagnosed me with Temporomandibular joint dysfunction (TMJD) In layman’s terms, the nerves in my jaw weren’t turning off at night due to the clenching and grinding on my jaw when I had been sleeping which was causing me to wake with these terrible headaches.
With regular adjustments, my headaches very quickly became a thing of the past. The treatment plan took me from a need of recovery stage through to the wellness stage. Paul and his entire team are absolutely fantastic. I cannot speak highly enough of them. I have been in the Wellness stage of treatment for some 10 years and my quality of life is really as good as it is going to get and that is as a direct result of N8 Health. I first visited N8 Health in September 2002 with lots of aches and pains. Regular adjustments over time greatly helped and I still keep and use the handouts relating to exercises which were recommended for me that can be done at home / the gym.
The adjustments have meant that I have been able to keep pretty active over the years with running, cycling. walking / backpacking trips and general sport.
